Dr Anna Kołos Appointed to the Management Committee of COST Action CA25177
We are pleased to announce that Dr Anna Kołos, Head of the Linguistic Engineering Team at the Natural Language Processing Department of NASK – National Research Institute, has been appointed as one of Poland’s two representatives to the Management Committee of COST Action CA25177.
COST – A European Network for Scientific Cooperation
The European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) programme is an organisation that supports the creation of international research networks known as COST Actions. For more than 50 years, COST has been fostering scientific and technological collaboration among researchers across Europe and beyond. To date, over 500,000 researchers have participated in COST networking activities.
COST provides a platform for knowledge exchange, partnership building, and the development of innovative research. It is the longest-running European programme of its kind and receives funding from the European Union through successive research and innovation frameworks, including Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. Through COST, researchers and innovators can strengthen Europe’s capacity to address scientific, technological, and societal challenges.
Expert in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing
Dr Anna Kołos specialises in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and research on Large Language Models (LLMs). Her work focuses on the creation and evaluation of instruction datasets, model fine-tuning and alignment processes, and on ensuring the quality, linguistic correctness, and safety of datasets for underrepresented languages, including Polish.
Combining a humanities background with expertise in computational methods and language technologies, she investigates the quality, interpretability, and practical usefulness of generative AI models, with particular emphasis on their applications in education.
