Dr. Marek Janiszewski Receives Prestigious Scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education!

29.06.2026

An assistant professor and head of the Cybersecurity Department at NASK has been awarded the prestigious scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, granted to outstanding young researchers. “Receiving this scholarship reassures me that my research work in the field of cybersecurity makes sense,” comments Dr. Marek Janiszewski.

Marek Janiszewski specializes in cybersecurity. He defended his PhD at the Warsaw University of Technology in 2023, focusing on the evaluation of trust and reputation management systems in terms of their resilience to attacks. He previously completed his engineering and master’s studies at the Warsaw University of Technology and obtained a master’s degree from the Warsaw School of Economics. His research interests include broadly defined cybersecurity issues, including: studies on the effectiveness and reliability of trust and reputation management systems, the development and evaluation of tools and methods for vulnerability detection, and security assessment in the Internet of Things. He conducts research focusing on two disciplines: computer science and telecommunications, as well as security engineering within the field of engineering and technical sciences.

He has experience in conducting security audits and penetration tests, as well as in delivering advisory projects related to ICT infrastructure development, system administration, and managing development projects. He holds industry certifications, including OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) and CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).

At NASK, he is responsible for the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of new cybersecurity tools and participates in international and national research projects. He combines his scientific work with team management—he is the head of the Cybersecurity Department at NASK.

“Without a doubt, the awarded scholarship is a real incentive for me to continue my research work and to inspire others to do the same. In the team I manage, we strive to build theory in the field of cybersecurity and to verify and apply it in practice.”

The number of applications submitted for the scholarship (in December 2025) amounted to 1,640. The award was granted to 230 young researchers representing 54 scientific and artistic disciplines, including 35 doctoral students. This year, Marek Janiszewski received the scholarship as the only researcher from NASK and the only one in the discipline of security engineering. The scholarship, awarded for three years, amounts to PLN 5,390 per month.

I have always seen myself more as a practitioner than a theoretician. This distinction shows that it is possible to work on practical tools and analyses while simultaneously contributing to the development of cybersecurity science. Creative experimentation based on scientific foundations allows me not only to develop useful solutions, but also to take pleasure in my work and in sharing its results.
