Weronika Gutfetter
Research interests: neural networks, biometrics

Weronika Gutfeter conducts research in the field of face recognition from multi-view images of faces, as well as applications of neural networks for character classification and detection in CSAM-type materials. Her research interests include: neural networks, including convolutional networks (CNNs), R-CNNs (regions with CNNs), aggregation networks for multi-view images (multi-view CNNs), and solutions based on transformer networks, including sequence-to-sequence models, 3D and semi-3D imaging in biometrics. She has created solutions that have been highly evaluated in algorithmic competitions held at biometric scientific conferences:

  • a method for identifying faces in video surveillance footage (4th place in the International Challenge on Biometric Recognition in the Wild 2016),
  • ear image recognition algorithm (6th place at Unconstrained Ear Recognition Challenge 2019),
  • detection of human figures in depth and thermal images (1st place at 2020 Looking at People Challenge FG Identity-preserved human detection).

Weronika Gutfeter represents NASK in the European Association for Biometrics (EAB).
