We attended the Mathworks Research Summit!

Although cases of ML/AI applications in deep brain stimulation surgery are not the first association with NASK, this topic was taken up by the organizers of this year’s Mathworks Research Summit who invited us to participate in this event.

From Cybersecurity to Neurosurgery – that was the headline of Michal Karpowicz’s speech at this year’s Mathworks Research Summit. The NASK’s scientific director presented achievements in the use of AI mechanisms in cybersecurity and medicine.

We form multidisciplinary teams that look at the most challenging research topics from different angles. This allows us to see non-obvious and highly effective solutions with universal application. We use the experience we have gained in one area in other fields. This is our great strength. – Michal Karpowicz emphasizes.

Mathworks Research Summit is also an opportunity to have valuable meetings and meet well-known scientists such as Mike Michailidis, Vijay Iyer from MathWorks, Jeff Mather from the Medical Imaging Toolbox team, and David Escobar from Cleveland Clinic, whose work involves analyzing LFP signals recorded during DBS surgery.

Such an experience allows you to get acquainted with the workshop of other scientists, often known only from publications or interviews. Participation in such events should be an indispensable part of scientific excellence at every stage of a researcher’s career, stresses Konrad Ciecierski, who was also invited to participate in the Mathworks Research Summit.
