NASK Transfer Technology Day: From Scientific Research to Technologies Used in Practice
The first edition of NASK Transfer Technology Day is now behind us. The two-day conference focused on technology transfer, the commercialisation of research results, and cooperation between science, business and public administration.

The event provided an opportunity to showcase technologies developed at NASK, but above all, to discuss how scientific research can be translated into solutions that address the real needs of the market and society.
The importance of cooperation between the scientific community, public administration and the business sector was also highlighted by Lidia Matuszak, Deputy Director of the Department of Scientific Programmes and Investments at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and Marzena Wojciechowska, Head of the Science and Technology Development Office at NASK.
Artificial Intelligence in the Fight Against Disinformation
The first day of NASK Transfer Technology Day focused on the development of artificial intelligence and the potential of new technologies to counter disinformation. One of the main topics was the growing prevalence of AI-generated and manipulated content, including deepfakes appearing on social media.
The challenges posed by the rapidly changing information environment were discussed by Paweł Sanowski, President of the Institute of Media Monitoring S.A.; Błażej Strzelczyk, Head of the Fact-Checking Department at the Polish Press Agency; Bartosz Popadiak, Analyst at NASK’s Disinformation Analysis Centre; and Michał Istel, journalist at TVN Warner Bros. Discovery. The discussion was moderated by Michał Koźbiał, Machine Learning Expert at NASK.
An important part of the first day was also the presentation of DROZD, a tool developed at NASK for detecting and analysing manipulations in voice and visual content. The technology was presented by Ewelina Bartuzi, PhD, Head of the Audiovisual Analysis and Biometric Systems Department at NASK.
From Research Results to Market-Ready Solutions
The second day of the conference focused on the practical aspects of technology transfer and commercialisation. Participants were introduced to solutions that have progressed from scientific knowledge and research and development activities to technologies with specific practical applications.
BotSense, CTI, FLDX and DROZD are examples of solutions demonstrating that scientific activity can result not only in academic publications, but also in technologies that respond to the real needs of users.
At a research institute such as NASK, connecting two perspectives, scientific and practical, is particularly important. Commercialisation makes it possible to further develop research results, test them under real-world conditions and confront them with actual market needs.
As Paweł Dąbrowski, Deputy Division Director and Head of the Cybersecurity Services Department at NASK, emphasised during the conference, security is one of the pillars of this process. This idea also underpins the development of NASK Technologie, a brand that combines NASK’s many years of experience in cybersecurity with scientific knowledge and the practical expertise of its specialists.
A Platform for Cooperation Between Science, Business and Public Administration
NASK Transfer Technology Day was not only an opportunity to present technologies developed at the Institute. An equally important aspect of the conference was creating a platform for exchanging experience and establishing cooperation between representatives of science, business, public administration and the media.
The discussions demonstrated that successful technology transfer requires more than simply developing an innovative solution. It also depends on understanding the needs of potential users, fostering dialogue between different communities, and building relationships that enable research results to be further developed and implemented.
Science does not have to end with a publication. It can become a technology, a product or a solution to a real-world problem. Commercialisation does not mark the end of research. Instead, it can become the next stage in its development.
The first edition of NASK Transfer Technology Day created a space for exactly this kind of discussion: how to bring together the expertise of researchers, specialists, businesses and public administration so that knowledge generated within research institutions can find practical applications.
We would like to thank all speakers, panellists, participants and everyone involved in organising the conference for their participation, inspiring discussions and valuable exchange of experience.
Those who were unable to attend the event will soon have an opportunity to watch recordings from the conference.
