Prof. Ewa Syta

Prof. Ewa Syta’s research interests lie in computer security and distributed systems. She is particularly interested in the security and privacy issues users face as a result of engaging in online activities, as well as in building a stronger foundation for systems and networks. She has worked on effective identity management methods, stronger anonymous communication technologies, practical privacy-preserving authentication protocols, scalable public randomness protocols, and ways to keep Internet authorities honest and accountable. Most recently, she has focused on blockchain technologies, asynchronous coordination, public key infrastructure, and provable security for real-world protocols. Her current work is funded by the American National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program.
Prof. Syta is an Associate Professor and Chair of Computer Science at Trinity College (Hartford, CT). Previously, she was a Lecturer and Associate Research Scientist in the Computer Science Department at Yale University, and an Assistant Visiting Research Professor at the University of Connecticut. For the academic year 2024-2025, she is on sabbatical leave as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar at NASK, collaborating with Professor Miroslaw Kutylowski in the Department of Cryptology, Advanced Studies Division.
Prof. Syta obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Yale University. Prior to joining Yale, she earned her B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Cryptology from the Military University of Technology.
